ADOPTED DOGS 2017

"Koba" and his two sisters came to us on November 20, 2017 from Hartland where they had been born to a family with an unspayed female.  A couple of the puppies had already passed away and their family could not care for the others.  They were born about October 16, 2017 and they appeared to be Lab mixes.

Koba has white on his chin, chest and hind foot.  He's a snuggler and a wanderer - always wondering what's around that next corner!  He thanks his foster family for taking him in - what would have happened to him if not for them??

On December 19, 2017, Koba received his very first Christmas present for his very first Christmas:  a HOME AND FAMILY!!  Congratulations, Koba!  You have many more happy Christmases to look forward to in Hanwell!  Please don't forget to send family photos!

Winter is a beautiful little girl with a sweet and calm personality.  She and her siblings are grateful to their foster family for taking them in when there was no other alternative for them.  Winter lived with her foster parents in Woodstock until . . .

"Anzio" came to DunRoamin' on November 12, 2017 from Anfield, NB, where she had been born on September 7, 2017 but her family could not care for her.  She and her three siblings had very little human contact, so were timid and unsocialized.  They appeared to be Border Collie mixed- breed puppies.  All puppies  were fully vaccinated, spayed and any and all concerns were addressed.

Anzio and her siblings soon learned to feel more secure and comfortable due to the love and attention showered upon them by their foster mothers.  We thank them for helping these little ones.

On December 2, 2017, Anzio was adopted by a family in Nine Mile River, NS, where she'll have the life and love she deserves.  Congratulations, Anzio.  We're happy we were able to play a small part in helping you get a new life.  Write soon and send lots of photos!

Aquino is very cute and is learning to be cuddly.  She loves belly rubs and is the first to climb, tentatively, onto a lap, but once she feels safe and confident, she does the big leg kick if you'll rub her belly!  She loves it!  She also loves to have her ears rubbed.

Aquino is very comfortable and happy around other dogs, regardless of their size, so she'd love to have a home with another dog.  She also loves kids!

On November 29, 2017, Aquino was adopted by a family in Mazerolle Settlement.  Have a great life, Aquino!

"Calais" came to DunRoamin' on November 12, 2017 from Anfield where she had been born on September 7, 2017.  Unfortunately, her family could not care for her.  She and her three siblings had experienced very little human contact so were timid and unsocialized.  They appear to be Border Collie mixed-breed puppies.

On November 23, 2017, Wheeler was transported to the Oromocto SPCA who will help him find a home due to the fact that DunRoamin' is currently overwhelmed with puppies, cats and kittens.  In the first 24 days of November, we took in 41 cats and dogs.  We thank Oromocto SPCA for helping Wheeler find a home - he deserves the best.

"Relic" came to us on November 1, 2017 when he was found all alone on the two-lane highway between Hartland and Woodstock, NB.  He was born about 2004.  Relic was matted, had cataracts, had a heart murmur, had recently lost a tooth and he had dental problems severe enough to warrant having to have most of his teeth removed.  He was also filthy dirty, tired and hungry.

On November 15, 2017, Relic was adopted by his foster mother who loves him terribly!  He now lives in Hartland and the rest of his life is going to be perfect!!  Congratulations, Relic!!

"Frannie" came to DunRoamin' on September 15, 2017 from the Hartland area where her family was no longer allowed to keep her. She is a Sharpei mixed-breed little girl who was born about September 15, 2011. She was fostered with several other dogs with whom she got along splendidly.  On September 26, 2017, Frannie was adopted to a home in Kirkland, but was returned to us on October 10, 2017.

Frannie should be carefully introduced to other dogs as she has issues with some.  She is a sweet little girl who loves everyone and everyone she meets loves her!

On November 11, 2017, Frannie was adopted to a home in Saint John.  This is a memorable day, Frannie.  And we'll remember you as well!

Sampson” came to us on September 28, 2017 after being found all alone on the side of the road in Muniac two days previously.  He had what appeared to be a deformity on the left side of his head, specifically around his left eye.  Sampson was born about July 28, 2017.   He is happy, playful and full of energy.  He loves to hang onto his leash and take himself for a walk and he particularly loves carrying something around, whether it’s a stick, leaf or anything else he can get in his mouth.  He also loves to untie shoelaces, and he's very adept at it!!

We are not sure what breed he may be (long skinny tail, short legs, broad forehead, huge paws, abundant and absolute cuteness . . .!!)  In order to determine the cause of his abnormality and to identify the best method of treatment, on October 2, 2017 he made a trip to The Oaks Veterinary Medical & Emergency Referral Centre in Moncton, NB to undergo a CT scan.  He was excellent during the trip down, obviously enjoying the ride and the view, and he loved every single person he met on this adventure.  Sampson's CT revealed a large fluid-filled cyst in front of his left eye which had pushed his eye down and back, so he underwent surgery at Oaks Vet to have the eye and the surrounding mass removed on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.

Donations toward the cost of Sampson's CT scan, surgery and subsequent care were very generous  (see them here) and we thank all the people who donated to make a new life possible for him.  He looks forward to the chance to repay this kindness by "paying it forward."  We're glad you're here, Sampson!  You've got a real future in front of you now!!

On October 28, 2017, that new life began!  Sampson now lives in Beaverbank, NS with the best possible family ever!  Thanks, Erica and Ben, for giving this precious little guy a home.  Please don't forget to send us all pictures as he grows.  We will miss him!

Viper is fully up to date on vaccines and he is microchipped.  Viper has graduated from basic obedience training and has attended doggie day care with other dogs, which he loves.  He also loves everyone he has ever met and he knows sit, down, wait, stay, leave it, give, off, etc.  He is a very food-motivated little boy, so training is easy.  He is great with all dogs, even ones much bigger than he, but he may be a little rough at times with smaller dogs or cats.  He would love a home and family in which he can gets lots of attention and exercise.

Jagger is a beautiful Shepherd with a wonderful personality.  He likes other dogs, cats and everyone who likes him!  We are very fortunate to have Paw & Order accept him as a foster dog until a new home could be found for him - please check out Paw & Order here - they're awesome at what they do and are amazing friends to DunRoamin'.

On October 5, 2017, Jagger found a home with another family who had been looking and waiting for the perfect dog for quite some time - and it was quickly obvious that he was the one!  Congratulations, Jagger!  Thanks to Stephanie and Elisha at Paw & Order for taking such good care of you!  Have a wonderful life!

"Onyx" originally came to DunRoamin' on October 31, 2016 from Woodstock where he was surrendered to the NB SPCA.  He was not neutered, so this was one of our first priorities.  Onyx is fully vaccinated, as are all DunRoamin' cats and dogs.  A Lab mix, Onyx was born about November 1, 2014.  He was adopted on November 9, 2016, but was returned to us on August 9, 2017 due to circumstances beyond his control.

"Journey" is a Neapolitan Mastiff who was born about April 14, 2013.  She was surrendered to DunRoamin' from the Woodstock area on April 4, 2016.  As her name suggests, she is on a journey - in her case, to find the right home.  This girl is packed with potential and we are confident that with adequate exercise, training and consistency, she has a lot to offer.

During her stay in foster homes, we have learned a lot about Journey.  She is not a fan of horses and would probably chase cars if not controlled on a leash.  She has reacted to certain children and adults, but seems fine with others.  For these reasons, she should never be left unattended with children or other animals and only applicants with no other pets and children older than 15 years will receive a response to their application.  A fenced yard and obedience lessons are non-negotiable requirements and potential owners will be required to provide contact information for the trainer they plan to use.

Journey's new owner needs to be experienced and willing to provide the time and training that is going to be required during her transition period and continued long-term.  References and veterinary checks are a requirement as part of the adoption process.

On July 12, 2017, we learned that Journey will be a permanent member of her foster family.  She has lived with them since January 16, 2017 and has endeared herself to them and vice versa.  Journey is a very special girl who deserves the best, and she now has it permanently.  We are so very grateful to her new family for the wonderful life she is experiencing.  Thank you so much!

"Peanut Butter" came to DunRoamin' on May 12, 2017 from the Bairdsville area where he had been struck by a car resulting in his right hind leg being broken.  He was born about May 12, 2016 and is a typically happy and energetic puppy.

He does not enjoy the kennel rest imposed on him to ensure his leg mends properly, but he is now healed, so is ready for a home now.  He appears to be a shepherd mixed breed, and he's looking for an energetic family who will give him lots of exercise, and of course, obedience training is required as well.  He seems to get along well with everyone, including dogs and cats he's met.

On July 8, 2017, Peanut Butter was adopted by a lady who lives in Woodstock.  Congratulations to you both!

"Furby" came to DunRoamin' on May 30, 2017.  He could no longer live where he had been and needed some help, which included a grooming as he was quite matted with long hair!  He looks so handsome now!

Furby appeared to require some socialization.  He wanted to trust people and soon learned that he was with people with whom he could relax and be himself.  Until he learns some trust and confidence, he should not be subjected to children, although he has come a very long way since he's been with us.   He loved going for walks and loved attention from his adoring fans.  He also loved being outside and although he will chase after a ball, you're going to have to go bring it back yourself!!  He loved his student volunteers and volunteer dog walker who spent time with him and he's become a very affectionate little guy.

On July 2, 2017, Furby found the perfect home.  He now lives in Red Rapids with his new family and we wish him the very best.  We hope you'll send lots of photos, Furb.  We know you'll have a great time!

Dobbie is a nice boy.  He is energetic, handsome and lovable and he loves cats, kids and other dogs.  Dobbie will require training, as does any dog, as he does not yet know some basics such as "Come," so currently must stay on leash until he learns some doggie lessons.

On June 28, 2017, Dobbie was adopted by a very nice lady from Bedell where he'll have a wonderful life.  Congratulations, Dobbie!  Send us some photos!!

Phoebe is shy when first meeting someone, but it doesn't take her long to warm up to nice people at all.  She loves to snuggle under the blankets for belly rubs and has sudden bursts of energy when she is feeling comfortable and confident.  She is house trained and her bladder has been relieved of all those pesky bladder stones, so she feels so much better.

Phoebe is learning all about toys and loves to explore, as long as her trusted human is close by.  She loves to sit on laps.   Phoebe may be best suited in a home without small or disrespectful children as she may feel nervous of them.  She is a beautiful little girl who can't wait to have a loving, caring home.  She is so very grateful to her foster mother who has helped bring her out of her shell - she loves her!!

Fauna underwent several surgeries to reduce the size of the volleyball-sized tumour and was spayed.  She recovered well and was fostered by a huge DunRoamin' supporter who also ensured she was groomed befitting her stature!  Thank you so much!

. . . on June 3, 2017, she was adopted by a family in Smithfield, NB, where she is the life of the party with the children who are so happy to have their first dog!  Fauna settled in easily and is now enjoying the huge amount of love and attention showered upon her!  Congratulations, Fauna!  Way to go!  Thanks to her adopter for helping her and giving her such a great home and family.

On January 7, 2017, Digby was adopted to a home in Upper Queensbury, NB, where he did not get along with the other dog in the home.  Digby did very well with all dogs he has met since his return.  He has learned many new things and is anxious to experience the security of a permanent home.

"Pasha" came to DunRoamin' from Woodstock on May 3, 2017.  She was born about November 1, 2016, so she was just a young pup.  She had lived in an apartment but the landlord decided she was too large and could not stay.

Pasha was not vaccinated, spayed or treated for parasites, but this is part of our promise to her, and her new family will carry that on in the future, because . . .

. . . on May 7, 2017, she was chosen by a very nice lady from Waterboro, Maine, USA to be her newest family member.  Congratulations, Pasha!  Please remind your mom to send us lots of photos as you grow!  We'll miss you, especially Bowser and your foster mom!

Freya is VERY high energy and will be best suited with a family who participates in regular daily activity and has a secure fenced yard.  Her favourite thing to do is RUN!  She adores all of her foster brothers and sisters, but she can be a bit much for the older and easily-spooked cats . . . especially when she decides to chase them.  Once she is adequately exercised, she will become stationary long enough for a brief cuddle and to refuel for her next energy explosion.

Freya is very smart and catches on quickly.  She is going to make a great addition to an active home willing to give her the patience and exercise she will need to be stable and happy.

On April 26, 2017, Freya was welcomed to Fredericton as the newest member of the perfect family for her.  She will enjoy lots of exercise walking and hiking and she loves her family already!  Congratulations, Freya!  Please send us lots of photos as you grow!

Cheri also has arthritis in her left knee, right hip and spine, but with a few mobility supplements and medications, she is doing just fine.  She would like to have some nice, slow walks for exercise with her new family, of whom she dreams each day and night.  Cheri is a nice girl who is happy to be warm, pain free and have the care that she deserves.  She does not enjoy small animals, so should not be homed with cats or small dogs.  When she is chosen for a home and family, she hopes it will be with someone who can appreciate what she has been through and love her passionately for the remainder of her life.  She deserves that, at the very least.

On February 17, 2017, Jude was finally cleared to go to her new home.  She'll still need a little more recuperation time, but her x-ray shows that she's going to be fine!  We're so happy Jude can now start the rest of her life!  Congratulations!!
